Kingstown, St.  Vincent and the Grenadines – 28th June 2016 – St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada took first innings points in drawn opening matches of the 2016 WINLOTT Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket tournament being played here in St. Vincent.

SVG squeezed a 7-run first innings win over Dominica while Grenada had a comfortable 97-run first innings win over St. Lucia.

Arnos Vale One

SVG were set 187 for victory but got to 124 / 7 when play ended. Husani Porter 0, Vincent Cupid 15, Dillon Douglas 5, Tijourn Pope 30, Jeremy Layne 9, Urnel Thomas 7, Tilron Harry 3, Othneil Lewis 37 not out and Shane Roberts 9 not out shepherd SVG to the end.

Wickets fell at regular intervals in SVG second innings: 1 for 1, 2 for 15, 3 for 56, 4 for 60, 5 for 71, 6 for 73, 7 for 82, until Lewis and Roberts put up some resistance.

Kassim Peltier 1 for 28, Shervon Dorsette 1-16, Daneal Dupigny 1- 17, Jahseon Alexander 2 for 19 and Lee Louisy 2 for 18.

Dominica had earlier declared their second innings closed at 193 for 8, Deon Burton 56, Kissim Peltier 43 and Alick Athanaze 42.

Othniel Lewis 3 for 53, Ronaldo Franklyn 3 for 24 and Tijourn Pope 2 for 36.

Fall of wickets: 1 for 5, 2 for 91, 3 for 145, 4 for 152, 5 for 156, 6 for 156, 7 for 181 and 8 for 193.

Overnight SVG were 144 for 6 at the close of play on the first day, Jeremy Layne 33 not out and Othneil Lewis 7 not out. SVG required another 45 runs to gain first innings points, Dominica needed 4 wickets.

SVG were dismissed for 196 in the innings. Husani Porter 4, Vincent Cupid 7, Dillon Douglas 1, Tijourn Pope 50, Urnel Thomas 10, Tilron Harry 16, Jeremy Layne 42, Othneil Lewis 8, Shane Roberts 22, Ronaldo Franklyn 0 and Rasheed Fredericks 14.

Fall of wickets for SVG – 1 for 6, 2 for 16, 3 for 22, 4 for 48, 5 for 87, 6 for 128, 156 for 7, 158 for 8, 196 for 9 and 196 for 10.

Bowling for Dominica – Shervon Dorsette 2 for 52, Kassim Peltier 2 for 43, Lee Louisy 2 for 45, Jahseon Alexander 2 for 21 and Alick Athanaze 2 for 15.

 

Sion Hill Playing Field 

Grenada won the toss, batted first and scored 224 all out, Johann Jeremiah 96, Jamal Charles 36.

Shervin George 3 for 32, Veron Preville 2 for 21, Collinus Calender 2 for 17

St. Lucia were 26 for 1 at the close of play on the first day and went on to score 127 all out. Shervin George contributed 35.

Darel Cyrus 3 for 51, John Ryan 2 for 27 and Jonathan Taylor 2 for 14.

Grenada in their second innings were 114 for 6 when play ended, John Ryan 25.

Kester Charlemagne 2 for 21 and Joshua Mann 2 for 46.
