Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – Denis Byam has been called up for West Indies senior team duties. The Vincentian has been assigned by Cricket West Indies as the team physiotherapist for the upcoming home series against India.

Byam, who is originally from the North Leeward area of Troumaca, St. Vincent has been practicing physiotherapy for over 10 years, following completion of his studies in Cuba. He is full-time engaged by the Windward Islands Volcanoes franchise, which is based in Grenada. Last year, in his first assignment with a West Indies (B) team, the results were impressive, with the team getting to the finals of the inaugural Global T20 in Canada.

Byam’s credentials are boosted with first-class playing experience, having represented Windward Islands cricket team in the regional senior tournament. He is a holder of BSc (Hons) Physical Therapy, BSc (Hons) Physical Education and Sports, and MSc Physical Therapy. Byam is also in his final phase of completing his PhD in Physical Therapy.

Denis Byam: “I am grateful to be given the opportunity to serve at the highest level. Cricket has been my life, whether as a player, fan, administrator, or physio. My main focus now is to provide the team with the best possible support where my role is concerned.”

Byam travels to Fort Lauderdale with the West Indies squad on Sunday, July 28. The series starts with a T20 on August 3 and ends with a Test match starting in Jamaica on August 30.
