Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – The nation’s cricketers who participate in the SVG Cricket Association Inc. National Lotteries Authority Premier and First Divisions this year are edging to complete the jobs at hand. Runaway Premier Division leaders, Flow Radcliffe need at least first innings points in their final game to be crowned the 2020 champions. Flow Radcliffe has massed 125 points from seven matches so far. Flow Rivals are currently second on 89 points from seven games played while Police Two, the only team that can challenge Flow Radcliffe for the premier title, is now in third on 81 points with two matches in hand.
In the NLA First Division, this is now at the quarter-final stage. When these quarter-finals are played, the defending champions CJ Jules Anthony MSDA Northern Stars will battle Smashers, Vee Jays Roof Top and Bar North Windward meet Coreas Distribution Belfongo, the French Verandah SVG Community College square off with Keegans Bequia XI while North Windward Combine take on Police One.
As it stands with the tournament stats to date, In the Premier Division, Hyron Shallow of Flow Rivals has scored 481 runs to lead the division’s batting. Lindon James also of Flow Rivals follows close behind on 478 runs while Rickford Walker from Police Two has scored 354 runs. In the Premier Division’s bowling stats, Flow Radcliffe’s Asif Hooper is just five wickets away from his season’s goal of fifty scalps on forty five. Hyron Shallow of Flow Rivals and Darius Martin of Police Two are a distant second with twenty-one wickets each, while Ray Charles of Guradian General Saints has taken twenty wickets.
The top individual performances in the First Division show Kevin Peters of Strike Eagles leading the batting on 245 runs, but his fifty overs season has ended. Mickron Mc Dowell of Vee Jays Roof Top and Bar North Windward sits second on 205 runs while Andre Hunte of Coreas Distribution Belfongo follows on 199 runs.
And in the First Division bowling, seventeen-year-old Azar Williams for the French Verandah SVG Community College and Dorson Cottle of CJ Jules Anthony MSDA Northern Stars lead the table with seventeen wickets each. Andre Hunt of Coreas Distribution Belfongo follows with sixteen scalps while Kishore Shallow of Victors Two and Cheslon Stowe of Keegans Bequia XI have both taken fifteen wickets each.
The national cricket body will be convening an executive meeting on March 30, 2020, to determine the resumption of the tournaments.
