Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – The SVG Cricket Association (SVGCA) Inc. says happy independence to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in a tangible way this year. Through a financial contribution to the Zero Hunger Trust Funds (ZHTF), the national cricket body continues to show a broad commitment to Vincentians.

The Zero Hunger Trust Funds was established in 2016, with the prime goal of eradicating hunger in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The ZHTF is chiefly executed through three programmes, Adopt a Classroom, Skills Training, and Golden Years Nutrition.

President of the SVGCA Inc., Dr. Kishore Shallow made the presentation to Mrs. Laura Anthony-Browne, Executive Director for the ZHTF. The handover was done at the Central Planning Unit, Financial Complex in Kingstown, St. Vincent on October 23, 2018.

Mrs. Anthony-Browne expressed her gratitude for the kind gesture from the SVGCA Inc. and indicated that the donation will go a long way in helping the programme to meets its goal.

President Shallow suggested that he was delighted that the cricket association could make such a meaningful contribution. “We view our organization as greater than sports, we have a social responsibility to help in the building of our nation, therefore we are most pleased that we can contribute tangibly and will continue to do so in every way possible,” articulated Shallow.

Consistent with this latest gesture, the SVGCA Inc., which was voted the national sports association of the year 2017, also recently coordinated a walk against crime.
