Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – June 19, 2017 – The 2017 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under 19 cricket team was selected on Saturday June 17th to defend the Windward Islands Under 19 title, which has been won by SVG for the past two years.

The panel of selectors including Roland Wilkinson, Cleton Burnett, Samuel Holder, Ian Allen  and Irvin Warrican presented to the SVG Cricket Association Inc. a thirteen member team that comprise six survivors from the victorious 2016 unit.

Jeremy Layne will captain the team and he will have Dillon Douglas as his deputy. Windward Islands Under 19 selectee Tijorn Pope, Selron Williams, Tilron Harry and Urnel Thomas complete the half dozen who have donned the whites representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Under 19 level before.

The seven newcomers include off break bowlers Jerremy Haywood and Roshorn John, seaming alrounders Rayon Williams and Jadiel Chance, wicketkeepr batsman Jeheil Walters, and opening batsmen Sealroy Williams and Rondel Williams.

Four reserves in Romando Browne, Alex Samuel, Aleon Caesar and Handel Roban has also been named.

The successful management team for 2016 has been retained. Parnel Browne will once again lead the unit as the team Manager and Irvin Warrican is the Head Coach.

The 2017 Windward Islands Under 19 tournament will be held in St. Lucia from Monday 26th June to Sunday 2nd July. The defending champions will leave for St. Lucia on Sunday 25th June.
