Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – August 22, 2017  – Central Windward and North Leeward both posted comfortable victories on Tuesday when the SVGCA Zonal Under 15 competition continued at the Park Hill and Sion Hill Playing Fields.

Central Windward behind a good allround team effort defeated North Windward by 27 runs.

Losing the toss and invited to take first knock on a good Park Hill pitch in sunny conditions, Central Windward behind Randy Joseph’s patient inning and of 42 reached 133 in 36.1 overs. Joseph batted 122 minutes faced 97 balls and struck four fours. Kyle Bobb 16 and Dwayne Harry 15 also contributed with the bat. Damary Ashton 3/12 and Terry Ashton Jr. 3/31were the top bowlers for North Windward.

Set 134 for victory in 40 overs North Windward despite Terry Ashton’s attacking 44 fell well short. Ashton faced 51 balls in 72 minutes and struck six fours. Rushon Walker got 17 as Irvin Warrican Jr. 4/9 and Kyle Bobb 4/19 did the damage to give their team a 27 run win.

The Sion Hill Playing Field was scene to another North Leeward win-their third- this time a 29 run triumph over West St. George behind yet another top innings by O’Jay Mathews.

North Leeward batted first upon winning the toss and reached 123 in 29.4 overs with Mathews getting 41 at the top of the innings. The total ended to be far less than what it looked like at one stage when North Leeward were 102/3 in the 21st over. However the departure of Mathews triggered a middle order slump which saw the last seven wickets going down for 21 runs. Mathews who struck five fours, with his latest innings took his tally for the competition to 193 at an average of 96. Gideon Richards got 17 as Joe Williams took 3/26 and Marcus Thomas 2/15.

West St. George began brightly by posting 26 for the opening partnership but with the regular loss of wickets found the task too much.

Marcus Thomas 18, female player Japhina Joseph 14, Keiann Mc Millan 13 and Joe Williams 10 all got into double figures but failed to push on. Shaeem Samuel 4/8 and Cladius Robertson 3/15 proved too much on the day.

The competition will continue on Wednesday with two matches.
