Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – June 13, 2017 – Defending Sunday League champions Smasher advanced to the 50 overs semi finals, Team Rivals crushed Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO while Guardian General Saints took first innings honors from Flow Radcliffe when the 2017 National Cricket competitions continued las weekend.
The 2016 fifty overs Sunday League champions are the first to the final four of the 2017 competition, when they recorded a four wickets win over Edward Conliffe Belfongo in the first quarter finals played on Sunday June 11th. Belfongo batted first and were dismissed for 94 in 25.3 overs. Vertil Davis top scored with 23. Javid Harry moved to 22 wickets in the competition, taking 4 for 18 while Marvin Harry 2 for 5, Anthony Charles 2 for 26 and Allister Shallow 2 for 30 all got amongst the wickets. Smashers lost six wickets in 14.3 overs as they got to 97 to secure the win. Deptor Culzac and Ronald Scott both got 17 each. Travis Cumberbatch took 2 for 26 bowling for Belfongo.
Team Rivals continue to rub salt into an already injured Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO unit when they defeated them by an innings and 119 runs. ASCO mustered up 87 all out at their first turn at the crease with Calroy Jordon scoring 20. Roniel Jeffrey 3 for 7, Olanzo Jackson 2 for 23 and Obed McCoy 2 for 30 combined to dismiss ASCO. Team Rivals in reply amassed 278 all out with notable scores from Roniel Jeffery 65, Rasheed Federicks 60, Obed McCoy 54 and Randell Williams 38. The wickets for ASCO went to Konard Adams 4 for 66, Kelshun DaSilva 3 for 70 and Antonio Baker 2 for 52. Behind by 191 runs on first innings, Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO could only manage 72 in their second innings, of which Kelshun DaSilva scored 46. Asif Hooper 4 for 31 and Olanzo Jackson 3 for 29 rapped up the ASCO’s second innings.
At the Sion Hill playing field in a rain affected encounter, Guardian General Saints took first innings from Flow Radcliffe in a low scoring first innings affair. Guardian General Saints scored 130 all out batting first. Seon Sween 49 and Rickford Walker 21 were the principal scorers. Delorn Johnson 4 for 34 and Dyke Cato 3 for 30 did the damage with the ball for Flow Radcliffe. Responding to 130 by Saints, Flow Radcliffe struggled up to 112 all out. Delorn Johnson returned to score 49 with the bat while Marcus Castillo added 28. Travis Cumberbatch continue to pick up wickets for Guardian General Saints taking 4 for 43 while Sunil Ambris picked up 3 for 30. Saints were 53 for two in the second innings when play was called. Kevon Peters was on 21 not out.
Sunday June 18th will feature the remaining three quarters finals games in the Sunday league. Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward will come up against Combined Youths or Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors at Arnos Vale Two, Victors Two will play Ruddys Electrical Unique Warriors of French Verandah SVG Community College at Arnos Vale One while Radcliffe Two will meet French Verandah SVG Community College or Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors at Stubbs. The second, third and fourth placed teams in Group A will be decided after Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward play Radcliffe Too in the last preliminary game of Group A on Saturday June 17th at Arnos Vale Two.
Two games are also scheduled for the NLA Premier Division this weekend. Team Rivals go head to head with Victors One at Sion Hill while Flow Radcliffe square off with Police Two at Park Hill.
