Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – The NLA First Division will be in the spotlight this weekend when the SVGCA Inc. resumes competitive matches after last weekend’s suspension for the passing of tropical storm Gonzalo.

At the end of this coming weekend, Sunday, 2nd August, One NLA First Division finalist and the last semi-finalist would have been determined.

At Cumberland playing field, defending champions CJ MSDA Jules Anthony Northern Stars will be locked in what promises to be riveting non stop cricketing excitement, when they take on the ever persistent and determined Police One unit, in the first semi-final of the 2020 NLA First Division.

Leading the charge for the defending champions CJ MSDA Jules Anthony Northern Stars would be Dorson Cottle who sits join atop of the 2020 First Division wickets taking tally with 18 scalps, at a measly average of 8.93 runs per wicket and an excellent economy rate of 3.34.

On the other hand, Police One boasts two of the leading batsmen of the 2020 NLA First Division, the experienced duo of Gosnel Cupid and Parnel Browne. Cupid has scored 212 runs so far, the second most aggregate runs tally thus far for the season, while Browne sits 8th in the runs scoring table with a total of 198 runs.

This battle is expected to go down to the wire, and the North Leeward crowd can expect some special entertainment on a long August holiday weekend.

The other match-up down for decision on Sunday, August 2nd, in the NLA 50 overs First Division, will determine the fourth semi-finalist. Vee Jay’s Roof Top and Bar North Windward or Corea’s Distribution Belfongo will be looking to snap up that final semi-final spot when they contest their rescheduled quarterfinal game at the Park Hill playing field. The experience in both teams will come into play, as one unit attempt to outwith the other in what could turn out to be a cliff hanger.

The batting of Mickron Mc Dowell will go a long way in determining the total achieved by Vee Jay’s Roof Top and Bar North Windward, as he has been the leading runs scorer for their outfit during this season with a total of 205 and at an imposing strike rate of 122.

Corea’s Distribution Belfongo will look to the tournament’s top all-rounder, Andre Hunte, to guide their charge, having scored 199 runs and taken 16 wickets at this stage of the 2020 First Division contest.
