Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – August 17, 2017  – An impressive allround performance by the precocious O’jay Mathews saw North Leeward to a comprehensive 117 run win over Marriaqua on the third day of action in the SVGCA Zonal U15 championship at the Buccament Playing Field on Wednesday.

North Leeward U15 who won the toss and batted, reached 161in 33.5 overs with Mathews getting 32 at the top of the innings with one four and two sixes.  Conroy Small 23 and Gideon Richards 19 both supported.

Shammur Peters led the Marriaqua bowling with 4/16 with Enrique Grant 2/ 11and Omarion Ottley 2/17 giving assistance.

Marriaqua having to score in excess of four runs an over, were on the ropes from early with the loss of important wickets. However it got worst with the introduction of Mathews as the fifth bowler when he grabbed 5/7 from six overs with two maidens as Marriaqua lost their last five wickets for eight runs. Cloudius Robertson who picked the first three wickets ended with 3/11 and Shaeem Samuel 2/7.

The competition will continue on Thursday with Central Windward taking on Marriaqua at Park Hill and North Leeward opposing Kingstown at Petite Bordel.

Matches begin at 10 a.m. and are 40 over affairs.
