Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines – 14th June 2016 – Five female Vincentian teenagers have been selected to participate in an invitational Under 20 Women’s Tournament in Trinidad & Tobago from June 21 to 26, 2016. The tournament will be T20 format, with a semi-final and a final. In addition to Windward Islands, Barbados, Guyana, and host country T & T will compete for the title this year.

In order to make this participation a reality, the respective Cricket Associations in the Windward Islands committed to paying for each of their players’ airfare. President of SVGCA Inc. Kishore Shallow expressed enthusiasm and contentment about the opportunity for the ladies. “As seen for the males, Under 19 is a critical stage for cricketers, and for years, this aspect has been missing in our female cricket. I am happy that this tournament is being staged, so that our players can get an opportunity at this early level to develop their skills” said Shallow. On the financial commitment of the SVGCA Inc. to make this a reality for the ladies, President Shallow opined that “though the finances of the local cricket association are not favorable at this stage, we are in the business of developing cricket, so whatever little we have, it must be invested wisely, and this is indeed a wise investment that will bear fruits in the future, I am thankful that my fellow executive members shared this sentiment and supported me to actualize this opportunity for our young ladies”.

In addition to the 5 Vincentian U19 players, Mrs Samantha Lynch was appointed coach of the team. Mrs. Lynch recently graduated from the ECB Level 3 coaching programme,
