Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – October 4, 2017 – Two top facilities will be opened this weekend. Hope in the area of the Vermont valley will have an official opening ceremony on Saturday, October 7th 2017. There will be an exhibition cricket match to commence the usage of the playing field, which will feature a National Sports Council XI vs South Leeward XI. The match bowls off at 1 pm.
On Sunday, October 8th 2017, Cumberland playing field will host an official opening. The grand feature will be an exhibition T20 match that includes former West Indies captain and two times World T20 Champion Daren Sammy, as well as West Indies batsman wicketkeeper Andre Fletcher. Local star, Kesrick Williams will also make a special appearance for the occasion. Daren Sammy will represent the Prime Minister’s XI, which will take on a North Leeward Allstar XI. Activities will take place all day from 10 am.
Both playing fields were developed and are under the supervision of the National Lotteries Authority.
