Arnos Vale, St. Vincent – August 17, 2017  – Kingstown and Central Windward enjoyed comfortable victories in the first round of matches in the SVG Cricket Association Zonal Under 15 competition, which got going on Monday.

Central Windward notched up two wins in as many matches, while Kingstown had one win from their two matches.

On Tuesday Central Windward defeated Mixed Windwards by 99 runs in a match at the Stubbs Playing Field.

Losing the toss and being asked to take first knock Central Windward were dismissed for 141 in 27.4 overs with Irvin Warrican Jr. getting 35 and Handel Roban 20. Solomon Bascombe 3/17 and Tumar Jack 3/25 were the most successful bowlers for Mixed Windwards.

Set 142 for victory in 40 overs Mixed Windwards were dismissed for 42 in 10 overs with Extras with 20 being the topscore. Kyle Bobb 3 for 4 and Devante McDowall 3/9 were the best of the bowlers in setting up Central Windwards comprehensive win.

On Monday Central Windwards had gotten off to a winning start with a 59 run triumph over Kingstown at the Stubbs Playing Field.

Batting first on the invitation of Kingstown, Central Windwards were dismissed for 120 in 39.4 overs with Randy Joseph 34 and Irvin Warrican Jr. 20 the best of the batsmen.

The Kingstown bowling was led by Alison Antoine 3/29, with Trevian Mathews 2/22 and Newton Browne 2/23 giving good support.

Kingstown in search of a target of 122 in 40 overs, were then dismissed for 61 in 22.2 overs. Renally Hillocks took 3/7, while three batsmen went by the runout route.

On Tuesday Kingstown were on the positive side of the results when they defeated North Windward by 20 runs at the London Playing Field.

Kingstown reached 78 in 22.1 overs after winning the toss and batting first. Captain Luke Wilson 14 was the only batsman to reach double figures. Aaron Michael 3/8, Terry Pompey 2/13 and Shaffique May 2/15 shared the wickets for North Windward.

North Windward despite Janique Lavia’s 35 at the top of the innings were dismissed for 58 in 14.1 overs. Lavia who struck four fours was forced to retire. Luke Wilson 4/17, Alison Edwards 3/17 and Newton Browne 2/17 were chief architect of the demise of the North Windward batsmen.

The competition will continue on Wednesday August 16th with North Leeward taking on Marriaqua at the Buccament Playing Field.
